The main goal of the institution is to develop fisheries and aquaculture in forms and technologies that have the least harmful impacton marine and coastal ecosystems.

It is a project co-financed by the European Union within the cross-border cooperation program Interreg V-A Italy-Croatia, and the leading partner in the project is the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

We have the largest number of registered fishermen and this imposes the valorization of the protection and use of the sea as an important resource. For a long time, the formation of the Center for Fisheries and Aquaculture, which will be the main link between fishermen and the relevant ministry, has been under consideration. One building within the Rovinj hospital of 90 square meters will be renovated, where the new Center will be located, and the space will be arranged and adapted.

Another Decision that was adopted refers to the establishment of the Center for the Development of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Istrian County – Centro per il sviluppo della pesca e acquacoltura della Regione Istriana, with the aim of developing fisheries and aquaculture in forms and technologies that have the least harmful impact on marine and coastal ecosystems.
